To check by phone, call 1-800-884-4387 and follow the automated prompts — have your 16-digit card number and 4-digit PIN ready. Walmart Visa gift cards (the open-loop prepaid cards sold at Walmart) are separate from Walmart store gift cards and use a different balance check process — look for the URL or phone number printed on the back of your specific Visa card. If your card was recently purchased, allow up to 4 hours after activation before checking the balance.
